INTERNSHIP REFLECTION
End of Semester/Internship Reflection
My internship and capstone experiences were both valuable in helping me grow professionally and gain a clearer understanding of my career interests. My internship was very meaningful because I came in unsure about my long-term career path as I was debating between healthcare finance and human resources. However, this experience helped me gain direction and better understand what areas I enjoy and want to pursue in the future.
Throughout my internship, I was able to gain hands-on experience working with real financial systems and processes, and using tools such as Bullhorn and Concur to review expense reports, verify documentation, and support payroll and placement-related data. I saw how small details, such as missing receipts or incorrect entries, can impact larger processes like payroll and reimbursements, which helped me become more detail-oriented and confident in my work.
A key takeaway from my internship was understanding how finance supports overall business operations in a healthcare consulting firm. I learned that finance is more than just processing numbers, but also plays an important role in keeping operations running smoothly through accurate expense reporting, payroll support, billing, and financial record management.
Overall, I really enjoyed this internship and had a great experience with both the organization and the individuals on my team. Because the work environment the team presented was supportive, I felt comfortable learning and growing throughout the experience. I am grateful for the opportunity because it helped shape my career interests and gave me a clearer directions moving forward.
